The Arsakeio Lyceum Psychico, organised a school photography competition with the subject 'My city, a city full of life'. Students ventured into Athens to capture their personal viewpoint of life in the city and twenty photographs were submitted for the competition.The awards ceremony took place on Saturday 5th March at the Arsakeio Megaron in the Stoa tou Vivliou in Athens. 14 High schools participated and there were 3 distinctions from each school. From Psychico College the distinctions were awarded to Ioli Vlachaki IB 2, Fotiana Pagoni IB 1 and Calliope Pavlidi IB 2.The competition was judged by the director Nikos Gianopoulos, the photo-reporter Maro Kouri and head of photography Argyris Theos.Out of all the distinctions, the judges selected 3 prize winners. We are delighted to announce that Calliope Pavlides was awarded the second prize for her atmospheric photograph of the abandoned Vageion Hotel, Omonia. When she received her prize of a Nikon camera, Calliope explained her concept of the empty chairs on which she had sketched figures to represent the past life of the hotel.
