Aristides Pittas '78
Aristides Pittas graduated from Athens College in 1978. He is the son of Ioannis Pittas '47, who was a member of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation (HAEF) until 2019 when he resigned for health reasons. He is married and has two daughters, who also graduated from the College in 2010 and 2011. In 2020 he was elected member of the HAEF and in 2024 member of its Board of Directors. From 2006-2021 he was a member of the Athens College Sports Advisory Committee and from 2021-2024 he served as President of the Athens College - Psychico College Alumni Association (SAKA).
After graduating from the College he studied at Newcastle University receiving a BSc in Marine Engineering and continued at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and graduated with a double Master's degree in Ocean Systems Management and in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Upon returning to Greece and after his military service he worked at the Elefsina Shipyards, Varnima, a shipping company of the Vardinoyannis Group and then at Petros Pappas' Oceanbulk shipping company.
In 1995, together with his brothers he founded Eurobulk, a ship management company. In 2005 he founded Euroseas, a shipping company, which he is chairman and CEO of and which he listed on NASDAQ in 2007. In 2018 he founded a new shipping company with cargo ships, Eurodry, of which he is also chairman and CEO, and which he also listed on NASDAQ. He is also a member of various shipping organizations as well as treasurer of the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA).
