With over 50 music events a year, the individual teaching of musical instruments, a children’s opera group, musicals and 10 different orchestra and chorus ensembles, we offer our students multiple opportunities to participate actively in the school’s music events.

From Kindergarten to High School, we follow the curriculum set forth by the Ministry of Education within the International Baccalaureate framework (Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme). We offer special programs at each school level.  Lessons take place in modern, well-appointed music classrooms.

Our students learn to write music themselves, meet renowned Greek artists and have an opportunity to attend and participate in concerts with the country’s largest orchestras, such as the Athens State Orchestra and the ERT Symphony Orchestra.

In parallel with the rigorous academic program, our students find space, time, and a way to develop skills and appreciate music, enriching their free time either as listeners or as members of a musical ensemble.

The College Symphony Orchestra, whose membership is comprised of Junior High and High School students, alumni and College Conservatory pupils, has been in operation since 2009.  In 2012, the Junior College Symphony Orchestra, an offshoot of CSO, was launched to encompass primary grade students.

Intensive rehearsals, under the guidance of teachers with many years of orchestral experience, take place on a weekly basis. During these sessions, in addition to improving their musical perception, members have an opportunity to cultivate necessary 21st century skills, such as teamwork, collaboration and solidarity.

Apart from the traditional symphonic repertoire, the College Symphony Orchestra has been the first to perform works by conductor, composer, and former teacher of our school, Dimitris Minakakis, as well as other contemporary composers, such as the internationally renowned Anastasis Filippakopoulos.

The College Symphony Orchestra is actively involved in College life, performing at the Christmas Bazaar, the Spring Concerto/Concerto Divertimento, the School Fair, educational concerts, as well as numerous school events.

The Athens College - Psychico College Conservatory provides music lessons to students of the College, as well as to students from other schools and to adults. The curriculum covers all ages: from inspiring very young children to listen, feel and move to music all the way through to preparing them for admission to Greek and foreign music universities.

Instruction in the playing of instruments is provided individually, while general music studies are taught in classes according to one’s level.  Highly trained professionals, with rich teaching experience, offer lessons in monody, contemporary vocal techniques, as well as instruments such as piano, violin, cello, viola, flute, saxophone, guitar, bouzouki, harmonium, electric guitar, electric bass, and drums.  The Conservatory also offers classes in all levels of advanced music theory.

Alongside the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports’ analytic program, Conservatory student are offered the opportunity to follow the internationally recognized British system of musical studies, that of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), and to prepare for acquisition of the corresponding degrees.  Students’ progress is monitored by a British commission through performance assessments carried out at our School.  It should be noted that students who have passed Grade 5 in music theory and performance meet the criteria required for enrollment in IBDP music courses, whilst those who have achieved Grade 6 and above (again in both theory and performance) earn UCAS points, thus facilitating their admission into universities abroad. These points are valid for areas of study other than music.
