Four Athens College Elementary School 5th grade students in the EFL program, Georgia Karastathi, Niki Kefala, Marianina Kefalogianni and Sofoklis Skarlatos, together with their teacher, Ariana Rapti, took part in the 6th PanHellenic Competition against bullying.  This year the focus was on cyberbullying.  Our students placed 4th amongst 208 Elementary and Junior High Schools from all over Greece.

The aim of the competition, which was co-organized by the International Olympic Truce Centre and the British Council, in partnership with the Greek Olympic Champions Club, was to highlight the ideals and values of Olympism and the Olympic Truce and to how these ideals help to resolve conflict and promote peace.

Our School’s team members chose to focus on Online Harassment.  They worked collaboratively, understood and delved into the ideals and values of Olympism and the Olympic Truce, investigated the different forms of cyberbullying, shared their ideas and experiences, and created a video in English in which they shared their own message against cyberbullying.

The Awards Ceremony was held on Tuesday, April 2 at the Acropolis Museum.  The President of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, honored the event with his presence.

Congratulations to the students and their teacher on their achievement.
