1st PYP Unit of Inquiry: Rules
At Athens College Elementary School, we try to set goals and find ways that help us achieve them.
Thus, in the context of the first interdisciplinary unity of inquiry, 1st grade students investigated and identified the need for the existence of rules in societies. They then created their own unique contract for the observance of rules in their own micro-community, their school. In the same context, they created posters to remind them of the basic rules of hygiene in response to the pandemic. In fact, they pledged to follow these rules each day, signing and posting their contracts. Thus, they improved their self-management skills, developed respect and social responsibility, and gave a resounding example of good behavior to all those in the School.
The class contract and the creation of posters was the final assessment activity of the Interdisciplinary Unit of Inquiry: “People set rules to live harmoniously with one another.”
