To celebrate the 200-year anniversary since the Greek Revolution, Psychico College Elementary School’s 5th graders took a retrospect of history in order to observe and admire the art and creative genius from the everyday life of our ancestors that was left as a legacy to us.

Using historical sources, depictions from Greek and Philhellene artists, and important information from researchers, they looked closely at the beauty of traditional Greek clothing.

They discovered the diversity of clothing features from the different areas of Greece, the artistry of their craftsmen, which from urban centers to the most remote parts of the country reflect through their variations important elements of their origin, location, climate, and use (for festive event or daily activity).

The artistic tour of these decorative elements not only uncovered the culture and aesthetics of the period, but also the prestige, nobility, hospitable nature and craftsmanship of the artisans.
