French Philhellenes: Psychico College French Department Students’ Projects
On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution, teachers of the French Department presented to the students examples of how the French state supported Greeks in their struggle for independence. Through various activities, students became acquainted with some of the trailblazers of the Philhellenic movement. They then created and gave a PowerPoint presentation of important French artists, men of letters and other intellectuals who were inspired by the French Revolution, such as Eugène Delacroix, Victor Hugo, and Hector Berlioz. As part of their study-projects, students also created a timeline of the Greek Revolution, highlighted cities in France that have honored Markos Botsaris, and compared the French and Greek Revolutions.
