The online series of faculty development seminars on synchronous and asynchronous distance learning, part of the “Thriving as a Digital Teacher” program, has concluded. Comprised of 40 teaching hours, the program was implemented by Athens College, in collaboration with the Prep Digital Department of Arizona State University*.  The first cycle of the program took place from October 30 through December 4, while the second from March 19 through April 16.

Fifty five (55) Heads and Coordinators of Academic Departments, divided into two groups (Junior High – High School faculty and Kindergarten – Elementary School faculty) took part in the program. The participants will serve as multipliers and share their acquired knowledge and skills in the latest educational technology applications and best distance learning practices in schools around the United States with colleagues in their respective departments, thus enabling training across the board.

The program focused on distance learning (synchronous and asynchronous) and aimed to familiarize teachers with best practices and state-of-the-art digital educational tools to stimulate interest and effective student learning.

The program was designed by Angela Zhao, Director of International Programs, ASU Prep Digital, and Alison Hernandez, Professional Development Manager, ASU Prep Digital.
