As part of the PYP Interdisciplinary Unit on “Sharing the planet," 5th grade students spent Library hour reading and working on Nadia Drakoula’s book, “Camping,” published by Pataki.

The issue they focused on was Renewable Energy.

Ms. Drakoula whose many hats include those of writer, journalist, radio and television producer, lawyer, and voracious reader visited our school and spoke with students in section 5β about her book that is full of adventures, twists, and mystery. Above all, however, it is about a love of nature and its lures and power.  She also talked about the pleasure of reading, the research that goes into writing a book, the bearing of one’s soul, and the author’s hopes and dreams as expressed through the voices of his/her heroes

A campsite was set up outside our school to help the students imaginarily transport themselves to the island where the tale unfolds.
