The customary Blessing Ceremonies at the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation’s Schools, officiated by the Schools’ clergymen, were held on Monday, September 13, 2021. 

Due to special circumstances, the ceremonies were performed with very few bystanders in attendance. Students remained in their classrooms where they watched the live broadcast of the ceremonies. Once completed, the clergymen went from classroom to classroom to sprinkle the holy water.

The Blessing of the “J.M. Carras” Kindergarten, the Athens College - Psychico College Junior High and High Schools took place in Choremi Auditorium in the morning and was followed by the Blessing of the two Elementary Schools in the atrium of Latseio building, in Kantza.

A message sent ahead of the new school year by His Beatitude Ieronimos, Archbishop of Athens and all of Greece was read to the students.

Addresses were given by the Chairwoman of the HAEF Board of Directors Mrs. Annika Papantoniou, the Athens College President, Professor Costas Synolakis, and the General Coordinator of the HAEF School Units, Mr. Christos Papanikolaou, who welcomed students and wished them health and success for the new school year.

On behalf of the Attica Perfecture, Mrs Polytimi Leonardou gave her own message ahead of the new school year, and also read a message to Athens College students by the Governor of the Attica Perfecture Mr. Giorgos Patoulis.
