Athens College Drama Club film presentations during the pandemic
Elementary, Junior High and High School students who participate in the Athens College Drama Club found new ways to express themselves during the lockdown of the 2020-2021 school year, and created a series of video presentations titled “A goldfish in the bowl”.
Students created short films with their thoughts and images of the pandemic, based on 15 themes (ex. Routine, feelings with and without a mask, stepping into someone else’s shoes, etc.). Those films acted out as outlets for the students, enabling them to communicate, express themselves, and learn about other aspects of theater and filmmaking. They became actors, directors, costume designers, while also editing their films and the music.
High School students also participated in online meetings-discussions on a range of current affairs, including the environment and climate change, the pandemic, social media and digital image, and the MeToo movement. Alumni of the School who used to be members of the Drama Club and are now studying or working professionally in the world of theater also participated in these discussions.
The videos will be posted gradually on our website.
Head of the Athens College Drama Club Ms. Aggeliki Girginoudi, oversaw the concept and direction of this project.
