This year, for the first time at Athens College, Blessing of the Waters Ceremonies were held at our School’s Swimming Pools, with the participation of Elementary, Junior High and High School students.

On Friday, January 14, 2022, a Blessing Ceremony was held at the “Alexandra Prokopiou” Swimming Center  - “John Α.  Gabriel” Swimming Pool in Psychico for the Junior High and High Schools and on Monday, January 17, 2022 a Blessing Ceremony was held at the “Athinoula Martinou” Swimming Pool in Kantza for the Elementary Schools.

The ceremonies were officiated by the School’s clergymen, observing all safety measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, with only members of the School Direction and Administration in attendance as well as the 8 Elementary, Junior High and High School students, who dived in the pool to retrieve the cross.

Chairwoman of the Board of Directors Mrs Annika Papantoniou and Athens College President Professor Costas Synolakis ’75 offered gifts to the students. Professor Synolakis wished the best for the new year, expressing hope that during next year’s ceremonies at Athens College, all students will be able to attend and participate.
