“Be Internet Awesome” honors the Athens College Elementary School
The “Be Internet Awesome” team recognized the efforts by Grade 5 and 6 students of Athens College Elementary, with an honorary certificate for their participation in the “Be Internet Awesome” program. The goal of this program is to ensure that all students are taught the basic principles of digital citizenship and safety. This enables them to securely explore the online world.
Through the use of specialized and targeted resources, and with the guidance of Computer Science teachers Ms. Vivi Leli and Mr. Nicolas Makris, Grade 5 and 6 students studied the ways in which they can make full use of the internet, and to be well-prepared to make smart decisions. The congratulatory letter mentions:
“The students who participated in “Be Internet Awesome” gained a clear understanding and absorbed all they learned”
“We are delighted that through our collaboration, the new “Internet Heroes” rise who can recognize the dangers of the internet, and without fear they can protect themselves and overcome them.”
The honorary certificate “Be Internet Awesome” was received by the Computer Science department of the School.
The “Be Internet Awesome” program is under the auspices of Google, and is aligned with the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) and AASL (American Association of School Librarians) standards.
