Panhellenic Robotics Competition 2023 - "Special Model Award" for the Athens College Elementary School Robotics Team
The Panhellenic Educational Robotics Competition (OPEN category C- Grade 6 Elementary School) of WRO Hellas was held at the Athens College indoor gymnasium in Psychico on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Congratulations to the Athens College Elementary School Robotics team who were awarded with the "Special Model Award" and ranked 10th in the finals.
The "Magnetic Transportations AC" team of our School worked on safe transport in a smart city. Students created a magnetic highway network in which special sensors calculate the number of passing cars and send data to the highway authorities (e.g. fares collected from tickets, etc.). The cars are equipped with an auto-pilot making it impossible for them to cause an accident because they all move at a constant speed on the motorway. In addition to the motorway network, a railway network was developed in which the number of passengers per train is monitored by a camera at each station. The train then moves along the tracks with the help of special sensors directing it to the stations. Finally, the risk of accidents due to extreme weather conditions (e.g. snow and ice) is measured by a temperature sensor and commands are sent automatically to direct the train to the nearest safe station.
Students who participated in the Competition were:
Giorgos Antonopoulos
Georgios Errikos Vernardakis
Evangelos Kyriazakos
Konstantinos Pitoulis
Melina Prentouli
Sophia Sigala
Teachers: Vivi Leli, Aggeliki Papadopoulou
