Psychico College Elementary School and Axion Hellas action in Amorgos
Our School student community collaborated with the non-profit organization Axion Hellas in a commendable initiative that aimed to strengthen the love for knowledge and reading. As part of this action, we built outdoor bookcases and collected books, which were sent to Amorgos. Ms. Vana Karkasi, Assistant Director of Psychico College Elementary School, and students Maria and Athina Balta, travelled to Amorgos together with Axion Hellas for the delivery of the libraries to the island's institutions.
Each library delivered to the island is unique and bears the artistic stamp of our children. Their paintings depict themes from nature, history, and everyday life, creating a warm and welcoming space that invites everyone to discover the magical world of books. Ileana Papantoniou, a 5th grade student, created with her unique talent the coat of arms in one of the bookcases and decorated the boxes of packaged books with her beautiful drawings.
The collection of books took place with the participation of the whole school community, students, teachers, and parents, who donated books from their personal collections. The response was overwhelming, resulting in a large number of books being collected, covering a variety of subjects and age groups.
The delivery of libraries and books to Amorgos is not just an act of donation, but a message of solidarity and love for fellow human beings. Through this action, our students learned the importance of giving and cooperation, as well as the value of sharing knowledge and the beauty of reading.
We thank Axion Hellas for its cooperation and support in this important project and look forward to future actions that will promote education and solidarity.
