Pilot Program in Architecture at Athens College Elementary School

Pilot Program in Architecture at Athens College Elementary School

Nov 6, 2024
On the initiative of Aristides Zampikos '76, an alumnus and parent of our School, the "Architecture in Elementary School" pilot program is being implemented this year in three sections of Athens College Grade 4. The Program aims to cultivate and improve specific skills such as gross and fine motor skills, self-organization, self-regulation and personal note taking. The emphasis is on identity formation techniques by the students rather than on the presentation of knowledge of Architecture. The field of work is Bodossakeio itself, as it is an important example of School Architecture.
It is with great pleasure that we observe that the children show a very lively interest and actively participate in the Hour of Architecture. The final activity of the Program will involve the composition of a 3D model of a representation of the Bodossakeio, which is expected to be very exciting for students.
