In the context of the PYP's Interdisciplinary Unit "How we organize ourselves", Athens College Grade 2 students decided to build their own district. They researched the parts that make up a district, dealt with the needs of its inhabitants as well as their rights and obligations.

But the most important decision was to make their district sustainable in many ways!

They cared about their footprint on the planet and so they built an energy self-sufficient eco-park with a "smart" water system, solar panels on the rooftops of the houses, "smart" solar benches, bike lanes & recycling bins.

Our students' district is the one we all want to live in.
