Athens College Elementary School Grade 6 - PYP Exhibition: Humans throughout time
Apr 11, 2025
This year's PYP Exhibition, themed "Humans throughout time", came to a vibrant close on April 8. Our students presented all that they discovered during their research journey with creativity, imagination, and enthusiasm. Through impressive presentations, live performances, interactive games, songs, and storytelling, students took visitors on a journey across time, highlighting the human story from the past to the present.
Guests travelled the globe through traditional music, explored the world of childhood as portrayed by Penelope Delta, and observed the evolution of technology and invention. The exhibition also shined a light on human rights issues, from children's and women's rights to freedom of expression and the need for social connection, and examined graffiti as a modern form of protest and reflection.
Our students tackled a wide array of themes, including climate change, space exploration, the history of fashion, paradoxes in sport, and the relationship between humans and bees. Through the study of outdoor sculptures of Athens and important figures from the Renaissance and other historical periods, they highlighted the role of "big ideas" and the importance of creativity and innovation.
The day was a true celebration of learning, creativity and collaboration; an extraordinary expression of the power of education, inspiring us to look to the future with open eyes and an open heart.
