Students from Elementary School Grade 6 of the German Department enjoyed an unforgettable day at the Goethe-Institut Athen, participating in the educational program Kinder Uni (Children's University). As part of their humanities unit, they focused on a particularly interesting topic: guide dogs and their role in the lives of people with visual impairments.

Through videos, the students learned how guide dogs are trained to help individuals navigate the world safely, recognizing street signs, avoiding obstacles, and responding to various situations.

Afterward, they delved deeper into the topic, expanding their German vocabulary with new words and expressions. Through discussions and interactive activities, they practiced German in a hands-on and enjoyable way.

The highlight of the day was a special trust game, where students paired up - one blindfolded, the other acting as a guide. This activity not only deepened their understanding of the challenges faced by people with visual impairments, but also fostered their collaboration and communication skills.

After the end of the program, the students visited the Goethe-Institut library, a treasure trove of German-language books. The day ended with a delicious treat in the Canteen, where students enjoyed traditional German Bretzel.

This educational visit offered students the opportunity to immerse themselves in an authentic German environment, interact, and enjoy themselves, walking away with new knowledge and lasting memories!
