Humanitarian aid mission to our flood-stricken fellow citizens in Thessaly

Sep 21, 2023

The entire Athens College community responded to the call of the School and collected about sixteen tons of humanitarian aid for our fellow citizens in Thessaly, who were affected by the extreme weather phenomena.

The humanitarian aid collected was sorted and packaged by category by members of the Student Councils of all school units and volunteers of the Fund Drive Committees (Alumni, Parents, and Alumni Parents), with the support of the Development Office and the help of the School staff. On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, the humanitarian aid was transferred to the Logistics Center of the Attica Prefecture, to be shifted to the affected areas of Thessaly.

The great mobilization and participation of the College family demonstrates in practice the deep feelings of solidarity, empathy and humanity of the students, parents, alumni, and employees of the College. Once again, the contribution of parents of the School was substantial, who offered the packaging materials, as well as the services of their company to transport the humanitarian aid to the assembly area.

This action, organized by the Department of Social Welfare and Diversity, in collaboration with the Student Councils of the school units, was coordinated by the Office of the President.

Sending humanitarian aid is the first step in responding to the urgent needs of our stricken citizens. Other actions, initiated by the Student Councils, will follow.
