Psychico College High School Young Entrepreneurship Club students win 1st Prize in "Diamond Challenge" Competition

On Saturday, February 17, 2024, the BrewCrafts Team of the Psychico College High School Young Entrepreneurship Club competed and won 1st Prize in the "Diamond Challenge" Youth Entrepreneurship Competition. The Greek final - Pitch Event - was held at Pierce - American College of Greece, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, for the 6th year.

The competition is addressed to students of public and private High Schools all across Greece and has been held since 2012 in 35 countries, under the auspices of the Horn School of Entrepreneurship of the University of Delaware (https://diamondchallenge.org/).

The purpose of the Competition is to provide High School students with the opportunity to work in teams, gain knowledge through hands-on learning, cultivate personal skills, have an entrepreneurial experience, solve problems, use technology to leverage their ideas, and create, regardless of their future career.

The theme of this year's competition for Greece was "Innovative Solutions for Social Issues" (Social Innovation). BrewCraft presented the ways in which brewing by-products can be reused to create a new flour that can potentially be used in the food industry (cereal bars, biscuits, etc.). The team presented the benefits of the circular economy and the reduction of waste. The group presented the benefits of the circular economy and the reduction of cereal waste. The students who competed and excelled were George Parthenis (Grade 11), Nikolas Tsiflikiotis (Grade 11) and Marilena Kamoudi (IB DP Y2).

BrewCrafts will represent our country in the international final (3rd phase), which will be held, under the auspices of the University of Delaware, from 25 to 27 April 2024.
