Psychico College High School participation in the 9th European Student Conference in Munich
From November 25 to December 2, 2024, the 9th European Student Conference on "Germany of the Greeks - Greece of the Germans. Classical Greece and its influence on German-speaking culture" was held in Munich. Students from Junior High and High Schools in Greece and Germany presented their projects in an effort to highlight various aspects of the relationship between Greek and German culture.
Psychico College High School participated in the 9th European Student Conference with a presentation edited by students of High School 2, Philippos Archontovasilis, Eleni Dimtsa, Penny Dourida, Eleni Theochari, Alexandros Mpourtsalas, Anastasia Papanastasopoulou, Angeliki Tryfonopoulou, Zoe Hatzigianni and student of IB DP Y1, Vasiliki Zisopoulou, with the support of teachers Vasilis Mitseas and Nikos Tzanakakis.
The presentation of the students of our School was titled "Neoclassical architecture in 19th century Athens", and aimed to highlight the influence of Neoclassicism on the architecture of Athens in the 19th century. It also highlighted the role of Otto in the transmission of Neoclassicism in Greece and the work of the most important representatives of Neoclassical architecture in Athens: Edward Schaubert, Stamatis Kleanthis, Lysandros Kaftanzoglou, Theophil von Hansen, Friedrich von Gärtner and of course the great Ernest Chiller.
As part of our visit to the Bavarian capital, our School group toured the center of Munich, toured Odeonsplatz and Marienplatz and visited the Frauenkirche Cathedral. Also, in the majestic Salzburg the view from the fortress was impressive. On the last day we visited the Deutsches Museum in Munich, which is one of the world's leading museums of science and technology.
