Psychico College High School - Final round of the Howland Oratory Competition

The final round of the Howland Oratory Competition for Psychico College High School 3 and IB DP 2 students took place at the College Theater on Thursday, February 20, 2025. The winner of the Howland prize for the school year 2024-2025 was student Artemis Papastavrou

The students competed on the following theme:

"The mission of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation is to contribute to society as a beacon for Greek education, developing responsible global citizens and future leaders, inspired by Hellenic heritage and both American and European liberal values. Its aim is to provide the essence of education by helping each individual to achieve their highest potential and unique aspirations.

We also aspire to instill in every student the ideas of self-respect and respect for others, cultivate a sense of civic duty and contribute to the development of the highest ethical standards. Our aim is that, through academic excellence and critical thinking, College graduates will be distinguished by creativity, teamwork and a spirit of discovery.

The objective no longer is to have the students "learn" what they are taught, but rather to become "human beings" while learning.

In alphabetical order, the panel of judges was composed of Mr. John Davis, MA PhD DipTransCIOL, Ms. Nantia Dourida '20, lawyer and Howland prize winner of 2020, and Ms. Maria Topali, poet and literary critic.

The students who qualified to the final round of the Competition were:
