Athens College High School - Final round of the Howland Oratory Competition

The final round of the Howland Oratory Competition for High School 3 students took place at the Athens College Theater on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The Howland prize for the 2024-2025 school year was awarded to student Nikolaos-Emmanouil Skevis. 

Students delivered speeches on the following theme:

"The mission of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation is to contribute to society as a beacon for Greek education, developing responsible global citizens and future leaders, inspired by Hellenic heritage and both American and European liberal values. Its aim is to provide the essence of education by helping each individual to achieve their highest potential and unique aspirations.

We also aspire to instill in every student the ideas of self-respect and respect for others, cultivate a sense of civic duty and contribute to the development of the highest ethical standards. Our aim is that, through academic excellence and critical thinking, College graduates will be distinguished by creativity, teamwork and a spirit of discovery.

The panel of judges included Mr. Michail-Emmanouil Kitromilidis'09, Vice Director at the Administration of Strategy Risks Management of the National Bank, Mr. Giorgos Th. Mavrogordatos x63, Professor of Political Science and History, and Mr. Tasos Sakellaropoulos, Historian, Head of Historical Archives at the Benaki Museum.

The following students qualified for the final round of the Competition:
