
Athens College High School - Distinctions in the 35th Panhellenic Physics Competition "Demokritos"
The Hellenic Physical Society (E.E.F.) organized the 35th Panhellenic Physics Competition, titled "Demokritos", for General High School students. The competition was open to students of all grades of General and Vocational High Schools across Greece.
The aim of the competition was to promote excellence, cultivate healthy competition, strengthen critical thinking, and familiarize participants with exam topics and international competitions. It also served to select students who will represent Greece in international scientific events.
The competition took place in a single round, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
Results – Awards
30% of participants will be honored at special events held throughout Greece. Specifically:
- A commendation is awarded to students who achieve a perfect score of 100/100.
- First Prizes are awarded to 8% of participants.
- Second Prizes are awarded to 10% of participants.
- Third Prizes are awarded to 12% of participants.
Qualification for the Balkan Physics Olympiad
The top three students of High School Grade 2, as well as the top student of High School Grade 1, automatically qualify for the Balkan Physics Olympiad 2025, which will take place from June 26 to 30, 2025, in Ohrid, North Macedonia.
It should be noted that students born after January 1, 2008, are eligible to participate in the 7th Balkan Physics Olympiad, allowing certain High School Grade 3 students to participate as well, provided they meet the age requirement.

High School Grade 2 student Angelos Gkoritsas won first place in his category, received an award, and will represent Greece at the 7th Balkan Physics Olympiad 2025.
High School Grade 3 student Nikolaos-Emmanouil Skevis achieved a perfect score of 100/100 and won first place in his category, receiving a Commendation.
