Getting to school each day is an exciting adventure.  Endless battles with dragons and monsters and armies of warriors… Unfortunately, the only thing I have encountered the last few days is a tangled mess of gray rags.  I can see it beneath the bridge.  At first I thought someone had discarded some old clothes.  Today, however, the tangled rags moved.   Really, I tell you.  No, it’s not my imagination running wild again.  The tangled rags are moving.  The tangled rags aren’t… tangled rags.  They are… a child.  A child? And what is it doing down there?  Alone… Doesn’t it go to school?  This is a story about friendship that defies borders, language barriers and prejudices.  In the book’s appendices, one will find afterwords and team games from the heroes’ native lands; teachers, however, will also find suggestions on how to approach the story with their students in order cultivate in them a sense of empathy and to help them develop a critical view about attitudes and perceptions.
