It is on a cold Christmas eve that Dickens chooses to unravel the tale of “A Christmas Carol,” uniquely creating one of the most classic characters in world literature, that of Ebenezer Scrooge. “A Christmas Carol” was first published in December 1843 and was met with instant success and critical acclaim.  Since then, and through today, it has been read and loved as few other classic novellas have.  Its message, both timeless and timely, becomes yet more powerful through the outstanding translation by Maria Aggelidou and the inspirational illustrations by P. J. Lynch.
