“Using Chalepas’s sculpture “Athena Shepherdess” as a point of departure, the first novella focuses on the twenty-eight years that Chalepas lived on the island of Tinos, after the years in the asylum on Corfu, and up until his return to Athens, discovered for the second time. During this period, which his mother’s death divided in half, Chalepas also worked as a shepherd.  What was his stormy relationship with his mother? How did people and time intersect within this period?  Why was the “pariah sculptor” resurrected in those years?  These are but a few of the conundrums that the author touches upon.

In this second novella, Ariadne’s passionate love for Theseus, the stranger and enemy in Minoan Knossos, is recounted by Ariadne herself.  Her narrative differs from the legend handed down from Greek antiquity.  Not only because it is recounted by a woman, but because in tandem with the enamored daughter, emerges the stature of a princess, priestess and goddess.  As if these things had to do with their inevitable, ritualistic cycle, in a new world that was rising from a declining one.  In the book’s Addendum, theauthor compares her experiential relationship with the aforementioned novellas which, as had, differ between them in many respects.”
