Ο Άλεξ Τζ. Πάκερ σπούδασε στο κολέγιο του Χάρβαρντ Κοινωνικές Επιστήμες και έχει δίπλωμα στα Παιδαγωγικά από την Παιδαγωγική Σχολή του Χάρβαρντ και διδακτορικό στην Παιδαγωγική και Εξελικτική Ψυχολογία από το κολέγιο της Βοστόνης. Ήταν διευθυντής ενός εναλλακτικού σχολείου για εφήβους από έντεκα έως δεκαπέντε ετών, διευθυντής εκπαίδευσης στο Εθνικό Μουσείο για Παιδιά, και τώρα είναι πρόεδρος της εταιρείας FCD-Εκπαιδευτικές Υπηρεσίες, που παρέχει προγράμματα ενημέρωσης για τα ναρκωτικά σε σχολεία και κολέγια σε όλο τον κόσμο.
