Athens College Elementary Participates in “Running Out of Time” Relay Race on Climate Change

On Thursday, October 27, 2022, Athens College Elementary School teachers and staff took part in the “Running Out of Time” relay race for climate change.

More specifically, the principal, Mr. Yannis Kalogeras, and teachers Ms. Popi Vassalou, Mr. George Vlodarczyk, Ms. Marianthi Giannakopoulou, Mr. Ambrosios Chatziapostolou together with staff member Ms. Marialena Papadopoulou carried the baton to Stadium 624 of the route from Marathon Stadium to Nea Makri Square. 

This unique 7,767 km continuous relay race running from Glasgow, Scotland (COP26) to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt (COP27) aims to deliver the message for a better future, equipping citizens with climate change awareness.

The baton is carried by cyclists, runners, skippers and rowers across the 18 countries participating in the action to carry the message all the way to Egypt with zero carbon footprint.

On the occasion of the “Running Out of Time” relay race, the Environmental and Gardening Club will organize activities in the coming days to inform students about climate change.
