On Thursday, November 24, IB DP Year 2 students celebrated Thanksgiving with their teachers and DP staff.  The event took place in CAPPS building which had been beautifully decorated and included a delicious spread of sweet and savory dishes and music specially chosen for the occasion, all provided by student and teacher volunteers. 

IB Programmes Director – IB DP Head Mrs. E. Vasileiou kicked off the celebrations with a short address giving a brief history of the origins of Thanksgiving and highlighting the importance of community.  15-Member Student Council President A. Moraitis then followed with a few words to fellow classmates, teachers, and staff. Later on, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, everyone was asked to write down what they are thankful for and notes were posted on the Thanksgiving Gratitude Trees displayed at the event and then moved to the IB Building. 

The entire event was much enjoyed by all and offered a wonderful opportunity to get-together and celebrate, connect, and share wishes.  What makes it even more special was that it was wholly inspired and supported by students and teachers. Mrs. C. Georgakopoulou and her History HL class primarily volunteered for all stages of preparations, while the student invitation poster was designed by IB DP Visual Arts students under the guidance of Mrs. M. Papanastasiou. 

May this be the start of a beautiful new tradition to follow IB DP Year 2 students for years to come!
