Greek Shipping Award 2022 - Lloyd's List- Athens College Elementary
The company Project Connect started implementing the program “Adopt a Ship” in 2017. The purpose of the program is to acquaint students with the shipping industry through the “adoption” of a ship. Athens College Elementary School has participated in this program from the very first day of its implementation.
For the last 5 years many of our students have received an e-mail from the captain of their ship, who answers their queries and explains various aspects of the seafarer's profession. They have also tracked the exact location of their ship on a daily basis through various applications such as marine traffic, making use of classroom maps or google maps.
On Friday, December 4, 2022 the "Adopt a Ship" project won the Greek Shipping Award 2022 - Lloyd's List in the category "Achievement in Education or Training".
The educator Mr. Chrysostomos Lefteratos was a nominee from our School with the "Adopt a Ship" team, strengthening the nomination of Project Connect with the actions designed and implemented during the last 5 years. The award was received by Ms. Irini Notia, Head of Project Connect - Adopt a Ship.
Congratulations to all our students and teachers who helped in the implementation of this extraordinary project.
