Seminars on issues of Immigrants & Refugees, Individual & Social Diversity
On Monday, November 21, 2022 Athens College-Psychico College Junior High and High School students attended a series of seminars titled: “Immigrants & Refugees, Individual & Social Diversity”. The seminars were organized as part of the Direction of Social Welfare and Diversity’ s program to raise awareness and inform students on issues regarding immigrants and refugees.
Guest speaker of this series was Founder, President and CEO of NGO METAdrasi Ms. Lora Pappa. Her speech was interactive and developed into a fruitful discussion with the students, while she was given the opportunity to answer questions and correct any false information and beliefs that may divide public opinion. Ms. Pappa was welcomed to our School by members of the Junior High and High School direction.
METAdrasi – Action for Immigration and Development, was founded in December 2009 and has been honored with many awards for its mission until now. In 2019, Ms. Lora Pappa won the Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize, the world’s largest annual humanitarian prize, for its innovative approach to welcoming refugees and protecting unaccompanied children.
