Students from Nigeria visit our Elementary Schools
On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, students from Greenwood House School in Nigeria visited the College Elementary Schools in Kantza. Athens College and Psychico College Elementary School Directors Mr. Yannis Kalogeras and Mr. Dimitris Siamopoulos together with students and teachers from the English Department welcomed nine students and two teachers from Nigeria.
The visit started with a cultural exchange at the Psychico College Theater, where students made short presentations of their respective countries and danced traditional dances from Greece and Nigeria.
Mr. Felix Logo, Consul of Nigeria in Greece, attended the event and said he was particularly moved and proud of the strengthening of relations between the two countries through children.
A tour of the facilities in Kantza followed. Our students crossed the campus from Latseio to Bodossakeio together with students from Nigeria, and showed them their two Schools' classrooms, libraries, laboratories, and athletic facilities.
Students from Nigeria also participated in an activity of the Athens College Elementary School Environmental Club, and planted flowers in the Bodossakeiο flowerbeds.
The visit ended with the exchange of wishes and gifts between students and teachers, and the promise to keep in touch.
Through this activity, our students had the opportunity to interact with children their age from abroad and learn about the culture of Nigeria, as well as cultivate their communication skills in English.
Greenwood House School’s visit followed the meeting that was held on February 21, 2023 between Athens College President Professor Costas Synolakis '75, Nigerian Ambassador Opunimi Akinkugbe and Consul Felix Logo and at the Psychico campus.
