As part of the transdisciplinary unit of inquiry, How We Organize Ourselves, the Ekali Volunteer Firefighters Team visited J.M. Carras Kindergarten. Students from pre-kindergarten classes had the opportunity to learn about the precautionary measures necessary in preventing fires and the official telephone number needed in case of an emergency. They also observed a fire truck, heard the sirens and engaged in a role-playing game in which they became firefighters and extinguished fires using large hoses and cones.
