Sports and International Day of Persons with Disabilities

To commemorate International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Physical Education Department, in collaboration with the Schools’ Administrations, invited P.A.S.K.A. (National Sports Association for the Physically Disabled), the first athletic association of its kind in Greece (founded in 1987), to our School.

 

The program, held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, was presented to Athens College High School 11th graders in sections 1, 3, 5 and 10th graders in sections 4, 5, as well as to Psychico College 11th graders in sections 1 through 4 and 10th graders in sections 5 through 7.  It included informative speeches by:

Mr. Konstantinos Siachos, President of the Association,
Ms. Dimitra Korokida, 3rd Place Paralympian in Shot Put at the Rio games and 2nd Place World Champion in Javelin,

Mr. Polychronis Politsis, Coach of the Federal Table Tennis team, and
Mr. Georgios Makris, Head of the Wheelchair Basketball team

 

The speeches were followed by exhibition matches in Table Tennis and Wheelchair Basketball that included the participation of the Clubs’ athletes and students from our School.
