Four hundred College students represented our School at the transfer of the Olympic flame ceremony that took place at the Panathenaic Stadium, also known as Kallimarmaro, on Tuesday, October 31st.

In the presence of the President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopios Pavlopoulos, officials and thousands of spectators, the Olympic flame entered the Stadium carried by the final relay torchbearer, ski champion Ioannis Proios.

The high priestess then got the flame from the cauldron that had been set up in the center of the Stadium and handed it to the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Spyros Capralos, who in turn handed it over to the President of the Korean Organizing Committee.

The Olympic flame traveled a total of 2,129 kilometers around Greece, carried by 505 torchbearers during the relay.

The XXIII Olympic Winter Games will take place in PyeongChang, South Korea from 9 to 25 February 2018.
