“Sea Bass” Section Investigates Ship Building with Help from a Naval Engineer
As part of the Interdisciplinary Unit “Where We Are in Place and Time,” students in the “Sea Bass” section had an opportunity to speak via Microsoft Teams with a parent-naval engineer who was located at a naval shipyard in China. Our students practiced social and thinking skills as they inquired about how ships are designed and constructed. The parent-naval engineer then gave them a tour of a ship and of the shipyard and with the use of appropriate audiovisual materials succeeded in answering all of their queries.
Their questions were numerous (How is a ship
painted? How long does it take to construct a ship? How difficult is the job of
a naval engineer?) It was indeed a
unique experience for all of us!!!
We thank him very much!
