“Red Mullet” Section Explores a Laboratory
As part of the
Interdisciplinary Unit “Where We Are in
Place and Time,” students in the “Red
Mullet” section spoke via Microsoft
Teams with a parent-chemist, mother of one of their classmates. Students became Inquirers, wanting to learn
about the physical characteristics of a laboratory, its equipment, and the way
in which it is used. The parent, using
appropriate visual materials, answered the students’ questions about safety
rules observed by laboratory personnel and performed an experiment using a
balloon, pieces of foil, and her hair to explain the phenomenon of
electrostatic energy. Thus, all their puzzlement was solved.
We thank her!
