Karla Ruiz Cofiño Speaks to College Students, Parents and Staff
On Tuesday, April 20, Karla Ruiz Cofiño, Digital Strategist & Social Media Specialist, gave an online talk to the College’s secondary school students, parents, and staff on “Digital Citizenship, Leadership & Collective Knowledge.”
Ms. Cofiño spoke about the countless possibilities that the digital world offers, but also about the dangers that lurk for users. At the end, she took questions from the public.
College President, Prof. Costas Synolakis ΄75, gave a prologue to the speech and Dr. Maya Alivizatou, Coordinator of the School’s Psychoeducational Department, introduced the speaker.
A little about Karla Ruiz Cofiño
Karla Ruiz Cofiño specializes in digital strategy, social media and technology ethics. She provides training in the use of social media, is an entrepreneur, communication and strategy consultant, social activist and women’s advocate. Among other accomplishments, she developed her own curriculum called “Digital Awareness” whose objective is to promulgate digital technology towards positive impact; she founded the Global Shapers Community network in Guatemala that supports young executives and entrepreneurs who distinguish themselves in their respective fields, and; she is a social media consultant for the Global Ambassadors Program of Vital Voices. She also founded the Women’s Entrepreneurship Development (WED) organization in Guatemala that supports and empowers women in setting up businesses.
