Athens College President keynote speaker at a Georgetown University Alumni of Greece event

Athens College President, Professor of Natural Hazards and Chairman of the National Committee for Climate Change Costas Synolakis ’75 was keynote speaker at a Georgetown Alumni Association event on Climate Change and Natural Disasters held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. Many Athens College alumni as well as parents, graduates of Georgetown University, attended the event.

In his speech, entitled «Climate Change and Natural Disasters: a Heavy Toll, Actions and the Future», Prof. Synolakis spoke of natural disasters, floods, tidal waves, fires and earthquakes and stressed the importance of prevention for the effects of extreme phenomena.

Prof. Synolakis was introduced by Mr. Vassilis Antoniadis, Managing Director of Boston Consulting Group Greece. Short comments were made by Mr. Dimitris Karavelas, CEO of WWF Greece and Mr. Albert Revach, investor and founder of Humble Holdings and Sales Director of Microsoft Greece, Cyprus and Malta Mr. Albert Bourla.
