As part of the transdisciplinary unit of inquiry “How We Organize Ourselves”, The Ekali Volunteer Firefighters Team visited J.M. Carras Kindergarten on Monday, November 1. Students from the Starfish, Seahorse and Crab classes learned a lot about precautionary measures to prevent fires and the official telephone number needed to call in case of an emergency. They also had the opportunity to observe a fire truck, hear the sirens and engage in a role-playing game in which they became firefighters and extinguished fires using large hoses and cones.
