Christos Chomenidis ’85 wins the European Book Prize 2021
Athens College is proud of its alumnus author Christos A. Chomenidis ’85, who was awarded the European Book Prize (Le Prix du Livre Européen) for his novel “Victory”.
Christos A. Chomenidis graduated from Athens College in 1985. He studied Law at the University of Athens. He has written 12 books, which have been translated in French, English, Spanish, Czech, Lithuanian, Turkish, and Hebrew. His novel “Victory”, which was published in 2014, has also won the Greek National Literature Prize in 2015 and the Best Novel Prize by Greek journal “Anagnostis”. In Spring of 2017, “Victory” was adapted to the stage, by director Stamatis Fasoulis.
Christos Chomenidis has written articles in many newspapers and journals. From 2002 to 2010 he presented his own radio show and since Spring of 2020 he is a podcaster in the online platform pod.gr
It is the first time that a Greek author is awarded the European Book Prize, since its establishment in 2007. Athens College warmly congratulates Christos Chomenidis. This award honors not only him but also pays tribute to Greek literature and Greece.
