Speech by Professor Maria Efthymiou to Athens College students

Dec 1, 2021

On Monday, November 29, 2021, History Professor at the University of Athens Maria Efthymiou gave an online lecture to our High School students entitled: “Questions about 1821”. She spoke of the innovations that the Greek people achieved during the time of the Revolution, their alliances, as well as the dedication and stamina they demonstrated.

This speech was part of the College’s tribute to the 200-year anniversary since the start of the Greek Revolution. Professor Efthymiou then answered questions posed by members of the governing bodies of the Fifteen-Member Student Councils of Athens College and Psychico College High Schools.

The speaker was prefaced by Athens College President Professor Costas Synolakis ’75, who noted that our students had previously watched some lectures given by Maria Efthymiou on the Greek Revolution of 1821, organized by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture.
