Still Standing - An IB DP CAS project

Mar 8, 2022

On Monday, February 21st, the event Still Standing took place within the framework of CAS, which stands for CREATIVITY ACTIVITY SERVICE and is a vital component of the IB Diploma Programme.  The purpose of CAS projects is to present a personal challenge to students through real, purposeful activities that lead to significant outcomes. Completely student-centred and student-directed, CAS projects require thoughtful consideration and planning by the students and are instrumental in developing numerous skills such as collaboration and problem-solving.

As part of our school’s CAS program, the event “Still Standing” was wholly student-initiated and organized, aimed at raising awareness on how COVID-19 has impacted key issues affecting our youth today, such as human rights, technology and mental health. The group of students organising the event were M. Badogiannaki, A. Fragkos, D. Mousama and M. Nikolaidi. Three keynote speakers were invited to address the event's theme: Mrs A. Labrinidi '01, Prof. A. Stalikas and Mrs P. Theodorakakou. The event was attended by a restricted number of IB DP students and was recorded to be presented to the remaining IB DP cohort. Students addressed the speakers with questions at the end, and a very interesting discussion ensued.
