Psychico College Howland Oratory Competition Finals
The final round of the Psychico College Howland Oratory Competition took place on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the Choremi Theater. The Competition is open to Grade 12 students from 3rd Lykeion and IB2. Winner of the Howland Prize for academic year 2021-2022 was Ioanna Katsikopoulou from 3rd Lykeion.
The theme of this year’s Competition was:
In every civilization, exists a certain dynamic between tradition, which maintains stability, and innovation, which allows society to change. Both coexist as different sides of a civilization, aiming for growth and progress.
A. Why does the coexistence of innovative actions and timeless values constitute a warranty for the development of mankind and society?
B. In what ways can this coexistence be effective in a contemporary educational environment?
Judges of the Competition were: Ms. Hera Valsamaki-Ralli, member of HAEF, Ms. Amaryllis Bernitsa ’12, lawyer, Valedictorian and winner of the Howland Prize and Ms. Alexandra-Maria Papagrigoriou-Theodoridou, Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Chairwoman of the National Vaccination Committee.
