In his capacity as Professor of Natural Hazards, Athens College President Costas Synolakis ’75 moderated a 12-hour seminar on Contending with the Climate: Exploring How to Mitigate and Manage Natural Disasters and Extreme Weather at the Aspen Institute on July 8-11, 2022. This seminar was part of the Socrates Program, a series of seminars realized using a version of the Socratic method to achieve a genuine exchange of ideas.

The Aspen Institute Socrates Program provides a forum for emerging leaders from various professions to convene and explore contemporary issues through expert-moderated dialogue. Socrates also provides the opportunity for participants to enter into a diverse professional network, and into the broader range of the Aspen Institute’s programs.
