IB DP visit from from the Danish school Viborg Katedralskole
On September 14, 2022, the Athens College IB Diploma Programme had the pleasure of welcoming 33 students and two teachers from the IB DP of the Danish school Viborg Katedralskole. Viborg Katedralskole is the oldest upper secondary school in Denmark, with a 900-year history dating back to the 1100s and a number of notable alumni.
President Synolakis was on hand to kick off the meeting between schools by speaking to our guests about our School’s rich history as well as our long tradition and continued support of excellence, the arts, and inclusive education.
Our Danish guests then met with the Direction of the IB DP, members of last year’s student council and ΙΒ DP students, and viewed presentations on our two schools. The visit concluded with a campus tour before a group shot was taken at the Benakeio staircase to commemorate this meeting of Danish and Greek cultures. Not only did the Viborg Katedralskole visit provide our students with the opportunity to form ties with an acclaimed ΙΒ World School abroad, but it also gave them insight into what other IB Diploma Programmes are like, the kinds of educational values they hold, any similarities and differences they share, and built a foundation for further collaboration.
