Three Dimensional Printing of the Parthenon for Athens College Grade 4 Sections
On Monday, December 5 and Tuesday, December 6, 2022, students from all Grade 4 sections of Athens College Elementary School attended the educational program "3D printing: a cultural accelerator for Education", presented by Ms. M. Maniati, head of the Child and Creation Cultural Center, and Mr. L. Maniatis, an associate of the Center.
The program is coordinated by the Quantitative Methods Laboratory (QM Lab) of the Department of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean and aims to provide an enriched educational experience that bridges the gap between real and digital worlds. Students had the chance to develop their observational, analytical, creative thinking, and digital skills. They recalled already existing knowledge and acquired new knowledge about our own and other cultures' heritage. Students were involved in a learning process that was not only entertaining, but also very engaging and educational. At the end of the presentation, each Grade 4 section received a 3D reproduction of the Parthenon, a traditional Greek antefix, the Belém Tower in Portugal and the Colosseum of Rome as gifts.
