Interpretative Reading Competition 2023

On Tuesday and Wednesday March 7-8 2023, the Interpretative Reading Competition 2023 was organized with great success by Athens College and Psychico College High Schools, in collaboration with the Directorate of Secondary Education of Athens. The Competition was open to students of all General and Vocational High Schools in Attica.

The topic of this year’s event was “Asian Minor Catastrophe in Literature”.

A total of 106 students from private and public schools participated the first round of the Interpretative Reading Competition, and presented the poems they selected to a panel of judges consisting of teachers from all participant schools.

The Franco-Hellenic School of Saint Joseph High School students completed the first round of the Competition by presenting one text as a team.

Fifteen students with the highest overall score advanced to the second round of the Competition, where they presented their poems to a panel of judges consisting of Mmes. Kaiti Diamantakou, Professor of Theater Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Tzeni Botsi, actress, and Chrysa Spyropoulou, Philologist, Author and Educational Project Coordinator of the 2nd Center of Educational Coordination of Attica (2ο ΠΕ.Κ.Ε.Σ Αττικής).

 

The following three students were awarded for their performances:

Vasilantonakis Ioannis: 1st prize (Jeane d’Arc Greek-French School of Piraeus)

Karpouzou Klio: 2nd prize (S.Avgoulea-Linardatou School)

Georgiakos Athanasios: 3rd prize (G. Malliaras Private High School)

Athens College Interschool Head of the Music Department Mr. Stefanos Tsokakis accompanied the event with an original music composition, with the participation of Athens College Junior High School students Fotini Boura and Spyros Tsokakis, and Psychico College High School student Kali Livir-Rallatou.
